Overview: Translator Toolbar

The Translator Toolbar is designed to centralize all the functions that a Translator needs to carry out their work efficiently and quickly.

Translation and glossary suggestions are displayed here. If a segment has no translation suggestion available for it, the translator can use Machine Translation to create one for any segment.

	Translated Text Window
	Translations are entered into this window. Inline tags are displayed graphically and can be moved or deleted using a combination of the keyboard and mouse. Misspelt words are highlighted with a red underline and suggested spellings are displayed in ().
	Source Text Window
	This is the original source language text. This may contain red over-lines that indicate that a word is available in the glossary and is displayed in the Glossary Reference window (). If a translation memory suggestion is located and displayed in the main Reference window () this window may contain colored markups to distinguish text that has been added, moved or deleted. This should be used in conjunction with the % Fuzzy Match figure to determine how good a suggested translation is.
	TM Reference Window
	This window displays Translation Memory matches as well as Machine Translation suggestions.
	Glossary Window
	This window displays translation suggestions from glossary files. You can also configure new glossary files by clicking Glossary Source.
	Spelling Suggestions
	This displays suggested spellings for misspelt words in the Translated Text window. You can configure a Spell Checker by going to the General Options dialog box.

Button	Description
Previous Item	Click this button to move to the previous item in the project.
Previous String	Click this button (or use the keyboard shortcut [SHIFT]+[ENTER] move to the previous string.
Next String	Click this button (or use the [ENTER] key) to advance to the next string.
Next Item	Click this button to advance to the next item in your project.
Undo	Click this button to undo the most recent operation.
Redo	Click this button to redo the most recent undo operation.
Decrease Font Size	Click this button to make the Font in the Toolbar and String list smaller.
Increase Font Size	Click this button to make the Font in the Toolbar and String list bigger.
Toggle ezType	Click this button to switch ezType On/Off.
Automatic Online Validation	Click this button to switch Validation On/Off.
Perform Online Validation	Click this button to refresh Validation for the segment being edited in the Translator Toolbar.
Display Tags	Click this button to switch the display of Tags On/Off.
Insert Inline Tag	Click this button to insert a custom in-line tag into the current segment.
Toggle Bi-directional	Click this button to switch between normal and bidirectional text entry. This is useful for working on Arabic or Hebrew texts.
Toggle Space Markers	Click this button to switch the display of whitespace on/off.
Set Lock	Click this button to apply a lock to the currently selected string.
Set/Reset Translated	Click this button to set or reset the Translation Status of a string.
Set/Reset Review	Click this button to set or reset the For Review status of a string.
Set/Reset Signed Off	Click this button to set or reset the Signed Off status of a string.
Set/Reset Flagged	Click this button to set or reset the Flagged status of a string.
Spell Check	Click this button to perform a Spell Check on the currently selected string.

Select the segment or group of segments from the Workspace pane.

Click to Lock each selected segment;
Click to mark each segment as Untranslated;
Click to mark each segment For Review;
Click to mark each segment as Signed Off.

TM Reference Pane

Suggested translations are displayed here. Suggestions can be either identical or similar matches, often referred to as Fuzzy Matches. A percentage score is displayed adjacent to each fuzzy match and several fuzzy matches may be available for each source segment.

Use the Next and Previous buttons to view different matches for the current segment. The fuzzy value for the next and previous matches are displayed underneath these buttons.

Multiple TMs can be specified in the Active TM tab. This helps achieve higher translation re-use during a project. The 'source' of the translation suggestion is displayed adjacent to it. In the example above, the translation suggestion has comes from an Alchemy desktop TM file and the symbol

is used to signify this.

Shortcuts

Recycled Translations

Recycled translations are translated segments that have been translated previously in the current Project TTK. These will also be displayed in the Translator Toolbar.

In the example above, Cancel has been translated previously in the Project TTK. The translation of this is displayed in the Translator Toolbar and the symbol

is displayed alongside it. This signifies that the suggested translation comes for the existing Project file and not the TM.

Advanced Segment Properties

Click on the Properties tab to set/reset advanced properties of a segment. Advanced Properties are displayed for both the original and translated segment, however, you can only set new values for the translated segment.

Identifying Differences in Fuzzy Matches

To help translators determine the differences between a suggestion fuzzy match translation and the source segment they are currently working on, Alchemy CATALYST will highlight these.

Second Mouse Button and Accelerators

Use the 2nd mouse button to access the following functionality while working in the Translator Toolbar.
