Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Alchemy CATALYST Demo
Is there a free Demo of Alchemy CATALYST?
Yes. CATALYST runs in Demo mode by default, unless a valid license is present and activated. You can download and install any of the builds from the downloads page to test the product.
What are the limitations of CATALYST Demo mode?
When running in Demo mode (i.e. without a valid license), CATALYST has the following limitations:
- CATALYST Demo mode cannot open projects created with a licensed version.
- In Demo mode some advanced features are not enabled (e.g. Batch mode is not available in Demo mode).
- When extracting files, CATALYST Demo mode changes some translations into some random text.
I have received a CATALYST .ttk project from a localization vendor, can I use CATALYST Demo to work on it?
No. CATALYST Demo cannot open .ttk projects created with any licensed copy of CATALYST. Only projects created with CATALYST Demo can be opened by CATALYST Demo.
Can I continue working on .ttk projects I created in the Demo version after purchasing a license?
No. A licensed CATALYST cannot open any .ttk project created with a Demo version.
Alchemy CATALYST Translator/Lite
What is CATALYST Translator/Lite?
CATALYST Translator/Lite is a free edition of Alchemy CATALYST, containing a limited set of features targeted to translators.
CATALYST Translator/Lite can only work with .ttk projects created with a CATALYST Developer/Pro editon.
For a complete list of features and comparison between editions, see the CATALYST editions page.
How can I get CATALYST Translator/Lite?
Visit the Translator/Lite downloads page and download the product and the free license.
Which version of Translator/Lite should I download?
Translator/Lite is backwards compatible: any version can open and save .ttk projects created with an older version of CATALYST. For this reason, we recommend always using the latest version of CATALYST Translator/Lite.
I have received a .ttk project, can I use Translator/Lite to work on it?
Only if the .ttk project was created using CATALYST Developer/Pro. If the project was created using a different edition, then at least a Translator/Pro license is necessary. See the CATALYST editions page for feature comparison.
CATALYST Licenses
I have purchased a CATALYST license. How do I activate it?
After purchasing a license, you'll receive instructions to activate the product. The basic steps for activating are:
- Download, install and run CATALYST for the first time.
- Use the "Activate Purchased License" link or the "Activate" button to launch the CATALYST Licensing dialog and create a Certificate request.
- Send the generated Certificate request to info@alchemysoftware.com. Our team will reply to you with a Product Certificate locked to your computer.
- When you receive the Product Certificate, use the same dialog to Activate it.
I have a standalone license locked to my computer. Can I move it to a different machine?
Yes. In order to move your CATALYST license to a new computer, first you must deactivate the license on your current machine and then request a standard activation from your new computer.
Please Note: if you plan to move to a new computer, make sure you deactivate any CATALYST license you have activated on your old one.
Can I buy a permanent license?
No. All licenses are priced and sold per year.
Is there any discount if I commit to purchase a license for more than one year?
Please contact sales@alchemysoftware.com with your request.
