Using Alchemy CATALYST, it is now possible to translate the content of any Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. This is possible as Microsoft has developed an ADO interface into its spreadsheet technology and Alchemy CATALYST uses this interface to gain access to its contents.

To  translate the content of an Excel spreadsheet you need to follow three simple steps:-

  1. Establish a Connection : Similar to translating the content of a data base, you firstly need to establish a connection to your spreadsheet.

  2. Identify Data Content: Once you’ve established your connection to the spreadsheet, you use SQL statements to identify the data that needs to be extracted and translated. At this stage you’ll also ‘link’ the columns in your spreadsheet to some of the internal Project TTK fields. These steps are recorded and stored in your Data Definition File.

  3. Translate: Use the Alchemy CATALYST environment to translate segments.
