Alchemy CATALYST can create fully aligned Translations Memories from compiled application files. This include Win16, Win32, Win64, and Microsoft  .NET applications.

Most application files contain significant coding and programming information which can be used by Alchemy CATALYST to align these file types automatically, without any operator intervention. However, there are times when a localization professional is required to manually inspect source and target segments and manually align them in the Alignment Editor.

To align software application files, follows these steps:

  1.  Insert an application file into a Project TTK.

  2.  Right click the application file in the Project Navigator and select Alignment from the menu.

  3.  Specify the name of the target application that contains the translations to be aligned.

  4. Each segment will be displayed in a list on the screen. A text icon (image52.gif) will be displayed adjacent to each segment. Click  image53.gif and drag it to its corresponding translation segment to align the segments. A connecting line will display on the screen indicating the alignment of each segment.

  5. Alchemy CATALYST can automatically align most file types based on an analysis of its structure. Click on Next Match to allow Alchemy CATALYST calculate the alignment of each segment automatically.

Documents can also be aligned by paragraphs rather than segments. To align documents based on paragraph boundaries, select Paragraph Alignment on the Segmentation  dialog in Options.
