Overview: Adding MetaData to your project |
Right-first-time translation is achieved by adding as much product knowledge to a CATALYST project as possible. Content authors know their material very well, but those translating that content may be less familiar.
Give people working on your projects even more information to ensure they have all details necessary to get the translation right first time, every time. Add:
Memos, Locks and Keywords are important in getting product knowledge across to all stakeholders and controlling what should be left unchanged.
Segments can have Memos and Locks applied. Words and phrases within segments can be protected using keywords.
Context information is invaluable to the translators and reviewers. It benefits in producing higher quality translations as the source text can be reviewed in context via Context links which are linked images or URLs.
If there are limitations to the size a translation can be in the project, those can be set in pixels, characters or percentage of the original string. Setting Maximum Size to individual strings avoids truncation issues and the need to retranslate to resolved them.
Labels is a means to, well... label individual strings. Whether you want to mark all strings in the current project as part of the particular release, you want to mark strings to be reviewed at a later stage, you want to attach a reference, or you need to identify a set of strings as needing particular attention. Which ever the motivation, each individual string in the TTK project can have one or more labels.
Flags can also be used to highlight certain segments. This is done using the Flag symbol. You can select a segment or multiple segments and apply a Flag. This can be done by double-clicking the Flag cell in the segment list, or by pressing the Flag button in the Translator Toolbar.
