A Memo is a note associated to a segment or resource in the TTK project. Memos can be applied  to individual segments in the string table or to resources in the project navigator.  They are helpful in providing technical & linguistic information, context, instructions,or  even reminders on segments or resources.

Having two separate fields for Memos and Translator Notes gives users more flexibility to organise and communicate information regarding individual segments. Paired with the ability to sort the String list by Memo or Translator Note, Engineers, Translators, Reviewers and Project Managers alike can concentrate on strings needing particular attention.

Memo - Segment Level

To apply a Memo at the segment level, select the segment in the Workspace window and edit the Memo field in the Properties window.

Once a Memo is entered, an icon will be displayed in the string list under the Memo item column.

Reviewing the contents of the Memo can be achieved in 3 ways:

  1. Opening the Memo field in the Properties window. If the field is closed, a double asterisk ** will be visible indicating the presence of contents within, click the triangle to expand the Memo field.

  2. Hover over the Memo icon in the string list to display the contents in a popup

  3. Display the Memo column in the string list so memo contents are always visible.
Right-click the string list column header > Columns > Memo

To remove a Memo, delete the contents of the memo in the Properties window. Alternatively, use the Revert option, right-click a segment and select Revert > Revert...

Memo - Resource Level

Add a Memo to one or multiple resources in the Navigator window by right-clicking them and selecting Memo.

Enter the desired comments and click on OK to apply.

Comments: Enter an annotation or note here. Any item in a project that has a Memo will have the symbol displayed alongside it.

Append if memo exists: Select this option to append new memos to existing ones in a project.

Note that once added, the Memo icon will be visible only if the Show/Hide column button is enabled in the Navigator window.

To review the contents of a Memo, right click the resource and select Memo.
