Use the OBJECT ribbon to configure or edit properties and values of individual resources.

Resource Status

Button

Description

Frozen

This status is only applied to items in the Project Navigator, and freezes an item and its sub-elements so that they cannot be translated while preserving the locking status of each segment within each item.

For example, suppose a number of segments are Locked, however, you wish to temporarily prevent the entire item from being translated. In this scenario, you would Freeze the item in the Project Navigator pane.

When you Unfreeze the item, the locked status of each segment will be preserved automatically.

Note:  The option to Set individual string locks changes this behaviour. Now freezing an item will apply individual Locks to each segment.  However, since Alchemy CATALYST does not know if a lock was applied to a segment locally or globally using this method, when you unfreeze the item all locks will be removed automatically

Extract as Original

Ignore the translated value of a segment and extract the file with these items set as source.

Note: This can be useful in isolating a bug in the localized content.  You  can extract different parts of the project as original to see if the issues still exists.  Doing this in systematic way will help find the issue.

Memo

Add a memo to a resource in the Navigator window.

Priority

Item needs to be translated as a priority. Applied to a resource in the Navigator window.

Signed Off

Approve all segments for the selected resource in the Navigator window.

Dialog

Button

Description

View Original

Choose this option to display the selected dialog as it was prior to any modification.  The original text and coordinates can be easily compared with the current values.

Flip Dialogs

Flip all controls in a dialog box so that they appear correctly in bidirectional languages such as Arabic or Hebrew.

Zoom

Change the zoom setting for the current dialog.

  • Zoom into a dialog box. This makes all controls and fonts bigger, and easier to read on the screen.

  • Zoom out of a dialog box. This makes all controls and fonts smaller.

  • Cancels the effect of zooming and returns the dialog box to its original size.

Layout  Dialog

Automatically re-sizes every control, plus the dialog frame until everything fits

Layout  Controls

Automatically re-sizes every control, while maintaining the dialog frame, until everything fits

Revert  Controls

Reverts to the previous layout of the dialog

Dialog Font

Use this option to change the fonts in Win32, Win64 and RC dialog boxes. This is useful when translating these applications into Double-Byte character set languages.

Validate

Check the selected dialog for the following and report issues in the Results Bar

  • Clipped Text:
Clipped text occurs when the text in a control is too long for the control.  This can happen if the translation is longer than the original value of the text.

  • Duplicate Hotkeys:
This often happens during translation when the hotkey character assigned to a translated text has already been used elsewhere in the dialog.

  • Overlapping Controls:
Overlaps occur when some controls are made larger and obscure other controls in the dialog.

Alignment tools will be enabled when at least 2 resources on a dialog box are selected.

Images

Alchemy CATALYST facilitates modification of image files such as *.bmp, *.jpg, etc.  Editing is done in an external graphics package and imported, as a translated image, into CATALYST.  Translated images are stored in a CATALYST TTK and TM alongside translated text and will be used as the localized version of that image when it is encountered again. To do this, perform the following steps.

Labels

Button

Description

Labels

Use the Manage Labels to setup individual label using a name and optionally a color.

A maximum of 30 labels can be generated in the manager, once this limit is reached you need to remove some labels or rename existing ones.

With at least one label created, the complete list of labels appears when clicking this button. While one or more strings are selected in the workspace, selecting a label will apply to them.

This button will also list all labels applied to the currently active TTK so you can re-use them. Those labels only present in the active TTK, and not in your label manager, have (Project Only) appended.

Import Project Labels

Use this option to automatically add any label in the Active TTK which is not already in your Label manager list.

Import Labels From File

Import labels previously exported to an .ini file.

Any label already present will be ignored (even if color is different in the .ini).

Export Labels To File

Save your labels to an .ini file. This can then be imported in any installation of CATALYST.

Labels can also be exported, or backed up, in the User Profile under HOME > Settings > User Profile > Save, making it an integral copy of all your settings.
