Issue

After setting a connection to a database or Excel spreadsheet within Catalyst you are unable to select the OK button to complete the connection set up and get to the window where you set up the database rules.

 

Reason

When Catalyst is installed sometimes certain components are not registered correctly so you will need to manually register them after installation.

 

Solution

1.  Open the Command Prompt within your Microsoft Operating System.

For Windows 7: Make sure you are logged in as an Administrator before running this command.
Alternatively, right click on the cmd.exe in your start menu and select "Run as administrator":

 

2.  Copy one of the following commands into the Command Prompt:

32-bit Operating System: Regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Alchemy Software\Catalyst 8.0\Msdatgrd.ocx"

64-bit Operating System: Regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Alchemy Software\Catalyst 8.0\Msdatgrd.ocx"

3.  Run the command and you will now be able to complete your database and Excel spreadsheet connections in Catalyst.
