Cannot open Chinese TTK on windows XP |
IssueOpening a Chinese TTK causes an error "Language 'Chinese' not installed on this system" on Windows XP. As a result you are unable to open the TTK file.
ReasonThe TTK was created on Windows 7 and the target language is set to Chinese. The problem is that Chinese is a new language in Windows 7 but does not exist in Windows XP. Microsoft have changed the Chinese language codes between the 2 operating systems. Thus Catalyst gives an error when trying to open the TTK under Windows XP as it does not recognise the language and reports it needs to be installed. Looking at the Microsoft language reference https://www.microsoft.com/resources/msdn/goglobal/default.mspx you can review the language list per operating system:
Under Windows XP, the following Chinese languages are supported (7 languages): Under Windows 7, the following Chinese languages are supported (8 languages): Note that the Catalyst 10 language list contains 2 versions of Chinese (Simplified) and Chinese (Traditional). This is because Microsoft changed those languages code between .NET framework 1 and later versions.
SolutionOpen the TTK in Catalyst 10 under Windows 7 and change the target language to a Chinese which is compatible with XP language codes.
