The following table list all the various file formats that make up the source files for a compiled Help system. These files can be localised directly from the compiled CHM file itself or can be inserted directly into Alchemy CATALYST and worked on individually.

*.ALI

A file that stores information about map IDs. Under normal circumstances this file does not need to be translated.

*.BRS

The support file for browse sequence functionality. Under normal circumstances this file does not need to be translated.

*.CSS

 Style sheet files. These files define the fonts, colours and layout of HTML files. Under normal circumstances this file does not need to be translated.

*.GLO

The support file for online glossaries using the Glossary tab. For more information, see About glossaries.

*.HHC

The file that supports a table of contents.

*.HHK

The file that supports an index.

*.IGN

A file that stores the "Always Ignore" Words list used for the RoboHelp Smart Index Wizard.

*.LNG

 A file that stores language information for your project.

*.PHR

 A file that stores the custom phrase list used for the RoboHelp Smart Index Wizard.

*.PPF

 A file that contains information about WebHelp window definitions. Under normal circumstances this file does not need to be translated.

*.STP

Stop list file used to support full-text search. This is a text file that you create and add to the project. It contains common words that you want to omit from the search database to decrease search time.

*.HPP

Help Project File. This file is used by the Microsoft Help Compiler when building a CHM file.
