Market Leader invited to contribute to European Knowledge Society Foresight Project

DUBLIN – June 11, 2003 – Tony O'Dowd, CEO and President of Alchemy Software Development has been invited by the Department of Taoiseach to take part in the European Knowledge Society Foresight Commission. The Commission is being setup and funded by the Irish Government to explore how Government Policy should be shaped in encouraging a knowledge based society and ways in which Ireland can improve its competitiveness.

The Commission which includes other high-tech software companies such as AOL/Time Warner, Hewlett-Packard, CSC and Accenture will meet over the coming months and produce a set of recommendations to the Irish Government that may form the basis of Government Policy aimed at encouraging a knowledge based society within the Irish economy.

This initiative, which is being run across many European countries is funded and chaired by the European Foundation. The Foundation is a European Union body that was set up in 1975 to contribute to the planning and establishment of better living and working conditions. It carries out its role in partnership with governments, employers, trade unions and the European Commission.
