Enda McDonnell
Enda was Technology Manager for Corel Corporation Limited from November 1995 to November 2000. He was the main architect and designer behind Corel CATALYST and he managed a team tasked with the automation and streamlining of the Corel's localization process. During this period, Corel adopted a worldwide simultaneous release strategy and Enda's team played a vital role in achieving this goal.
Corel changed from source to binary file localization during early 1996. This paradigm shift was facilitated by the technology that Enda and his team developed. The implementation of CATALYST was so widespread and successful within Corel that all products were routinely released simultaneously with the English product. While engineering headcount grew by 30% during 1996, the number of product releases increased by 800%, an indication as to how CATALYST not only reduced the complexity of Corel's localization process but also created tremendous additional bandwidth within the localization teams.
During 1998, CATALYST was nominated as a finalist in the Irish Technology Innovation Awards, loosing out to Balitmore's encryption technology.
Before joining Corel, he worked in a bespoke software development company writing advanced applications and systems for many industries, including localisation.
Enda is 30 years of age with a BE, Electronic Engineering.
